About Me
Mukul Seth, RIA Developer
I have been developing Flash Applications for a total of approximately two and a half years. In fact, I started designing with the Flash Authoring tool much earlier than that, about 5-6 years ago. It wasn’t up until 2007 that I started using it for application development, at which time I was introduced to Flex. Since then I have used Flash/Flex/AIR at all of my co-op placements to some degree. My three most-recent stints were 100% Flash Development. I do not heavily distinguish between Flex and Flash because I see Flex as more of an extension to Flash. While Flash provides the core libraries and run-time, Flex is a component library to help developers by not forcing them to re-invent the wheel for each of their applications. I would say that most of my ‘Flash’ Development thus far has been with Flex, but I also have extensive AS3 experience, which I believe is equally applicable to both paradigms. I have been lucky enough to have developed 3 different types of projects at my recent placements. First, at Innovasium Inc., I developed an E-commerce client from start to finish. Second, at Adobe Systems, I developed a large-scale portal application to allow monitoring of the various software metrics and reports for the LiveCycle Enterprise/Developer Suites through versions 8 and 9. This provided me with a great deal of UI design, Data Visualization, and web service integration experience. Finally, at CBS Radio, I helped develop an online radio player with features such as advertising, analytics, streaming and on-demand content, e-commerce integration, social networks integration. At CBS radio, we developed primarily using the Core Flash libraries to allow deployment with or without the Flex framework. Aside from the projects I’ve worked on at my co-op terms, I’ve also used Flash for course projects at UW, and as a hobby. These experiences are outlined in my Portfolio.
